Yoga is well known for its benefits to body and mind. And therefore, during or post burnout period, people cannot recommend enough yoga. However, which yoga style to choose? See below some explanations of three popular yoga styles: Yin, Hatha, and Vinyasa yoga. When you are at a low energy level, opt for Yin yoga!

What is the difference between Yin yoga, Hatha, and Vinyasa yoga?

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga exercise. Poses are held for longer periods of time with little muscular exertion.  It is a very meditative approach to yoga. Therefore, it is very cool to do it when you are tired, having a low energy level. Most of the time, when I am in the poses, it feels a true moment of resting. The poses seem immobile without much energy. However, thanks to long and well-studied poses, Yin yoga applies moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body, increasing greatly circulation in the joints and improving enormously flexibility.

Hatha yoga requires a bit more energy. Some poses can be, for a beginner, uncomfortable, and sometimes unbearable to hold for a longer time. Hatha yoga is very popular thanks to its comprehensive and integrated ideas of ethics, diet, cleansing, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation.

Vinyasa classes, on the contrary to Yin yoga, often repeat series of poses (flow) and often involve increasing body heat — and sweat — and building strength. It requires lots of energy and muscular efforts.

My advice would be, opt for Yin yoga to start with when you are in or after burnout. It is a nice and relaxing type of exercise. Then you can move to Hatha yoga when having more energy.
